Contributing to poverty reduction and food security in rural Zambia
Muchinga Agricultural Development Company Limited (MADECO Ltd) is registered in Zambia, with a view to support soya bean production among smallholder farmers in Mpika district.
The project aims to contribute to poverty reduction and food security in rural Zambia. It will help the rural farmers to increase their productivity, capacity and income through intensification and diversification of the existing cropping system with soya bean cultivation and improvement of the value-chain system.
Plans are underway to set up a soya bean oil extraction plant.
MADECO are transforming rural lives through implementation of climate smart agricultural techniques and market linkages.

After decades of steady decline, the number of people who suffer from hunger – as measured by the prevalence of undernourishment – began to slowly increase again in 2015. Current estimates show that nearly 690 million people are hungry, or 8.9 percent of the world population – up by 10 million people in one year and by nearly 60 million in five years.

Farmers engaged in soya bean production in Muchinga province
50Kg bags of soya beans produced
Increase in production of soya beans in the district
Smallholder farmers assisted with assorted farming inputs, such as seed, fertilizer, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides and foliar fertilizer.

The project is anchored to Pillars 7 and 8 of the Zambian Government Seventh National Development Plan, 2017–2021 (7NDP), which seeks to increase the level of support to agricultural and rural development.
